An obvious change

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

I’ve made what was a pretty obvious change to the Contacts pages, The phone numbers are now top of the page, rather than after the address. Thanks to the ‘iPhone SDK for Web Developers’ video from Apple for pointing out the probably obvious fact that the iPhone is a phone so numbers will be the thing people most want to find.

The Directions page

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Directions are taken from the club’s website where possible, the rest are taken from the ECB website. Taxi numbers are taken from a yell.com search centred on the ground.

Header

The directions pages will have a list of grounds if the County is going to play at more than one. Each has a header with the name and an image of the ground.

Car

The car directions feature written instructions and where possible a map of the ground and surrounding area. Otherwise there’s a Google Maps link pointing at the ground. Where the information is available there are parking details.

Train

Information on the nearest train stations is also included with instructions for walking, buses and Underground where appropriate. Most of the stations have a Google Maps link with directions from station to ground (be aware these are for cars so may not be suitable for walking). All the stations include a link to the nationalrail.co.uk webpage which has information on opening hours, toilets, disabled access and pretty much everything else.

Taxi

The weather link takes you to the BBC’s weather page for the town, and there are a few numbers for Taxi firms close to the ground, click to call.

About mullygrubber.com

Friday, March 7th, 2008

mullygrubber.com is a website for iPhone users to check on the latest scores, get directions to grounds or find a local taxi firm. It’s mostly designed for my benefit but might be useful for other people.

The content is mostly RSS feeds from the BBC, Cricinfo and the ECB, the directions are taken from the club’s websites (or the ECB website if the club’s website lacks detailed or any info). Using the setting page you can set your home nation and county to get quick access to their news.

The site was going to be called the highly original iphonecricket.com, but that was taken (to a very useful holding page). So I picked a Richie Benaud term from wikipedia’s page of cricketing terms.
